Is it possible for us to know if God exists? First and foremost, we need to understand that we can’t prove God’s existence like a question from geometry or any scientific formula. You need to remember that even though we can’t prove He exists, we can’t prove that he doesn’t exist either. At the end of the day, God’s existence ultimately depends on your faith in him. That said, there are several reasons for us to believe that God does indeed exist.
Let’s go through the evidences we have from two great resources that tell us about God:
- Mother nature
- The Bible
1. Evidence from Nature
Since the beginning of time, one of the many reasons humans have continued to have a strong belief in God was because of the breathtaking objects they saw around them.
“19 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.”
- Psalm 19:1
When you look up into the star-filled night sky, can you count the number of stars you see? The answer depends on the whether it’s daytime or nighttime. According to science, we can see 5,000 to 6,000 stars with the naked eye, but what about the ones we can’t?
There must be someone orchestrating all of this, right? Every single element in our world is made up of billions molecules and atoms. Even though science has explained several secrets of our world, it still can’t explain what exactly makes an atom come alive.
“20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”
2. The Bible Proves the Existence Of God
The Bible, unlike us, does not give arguments in attempts of convincing you that God exists, it just simply states that he exists. The very first words of the scripture are:
“1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
- Genesis 1:1
The opening few chapters of the Bible go on to paint a picture of our Lord who is self-existent, he created the heavens, the earth, and the universe. As the apostle Paul says:
“16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”
- Colossians 1:16
3. The Biggest Evidence of God
The greatest evidence of God’s existence is that the lucky ones amongst us who have chosen to pursued him have had their lives transformed by Him. These people have found Him and have invited Him into their hearts.
“20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
- Revelation 3:20
