Women face several lies that describe to them what it means to be a woman according to the Bible. According to some, a woman is supposed to be a slave to her husband. The same is supposed to continue when she’s climbing the corporate ladder and taking up a role in politics or any other professional area. According to other people, womanhood is defined by doing work at home only. But this just doesn’t sound right.
Because of several definitions that don’t quite seem to make sense, many often get lost in the different meanings of what it means to be a woman. To understand the true meaning of womanhood, women need to look towards the Bible.
What the Bible Says
It’s essential that a woman accepts her femininity. God has made her different intentionally. Women are physically different from men. They’ve been crafted to bear the process of motherhood, and they have distinct emotional needs as well.
“7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.”
- 1 Peter 3:7
On the other hand, men don’t require the same levels of intimacy as females. The Bible also makes it clear that women should not be yelled at or hurt physically by men. They have to be treated with respect, sensitivity, and care. The Bible also makes it clear that a woman should not define herself by the culture she’s a part of or even what different Christians assert. Instead, she should model herself after the Words of God and only the Bible.
Women And Motherhood
“128 Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways.”
“2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.”
“3 Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.”
- Psalm 128
According to the Bible, a woman is going to have a better life if she has children. That said, it also clarifies that even if she doesn’t have children, can’t have children or remains unmarried, she’s NOT an inferior being.
“2 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.”
- Matthew 19:12
